As one of the biggest groups in Tamworth District we pride ourselves on delivering active and diverse programmes for the beavers, cubs and scouts, but we now need extra help.
Group Scout Leader (GSL) – The head honcho of the group, working alongside the Chairman, the GSL doesn’t need a scouting background they just need to be able to manage the leaders, and the group as a whole.
It’s a very important role within the group, the GSL makes decisions on every aspect of the group, and our assets, they don’t necessarily need to work with a section, although they can if they wish to, they can have as much or as little direct interaction with the kids as they want to.
Assistant Scout Leader (ASL) – We desperately need to get a new ASL in the Scout troop (10.5-14 years). You don’t need to have a Scouting background as the other leaders can show you the ropes really easily, although it’s always nice if you do. As an ASL you would need to come on a thursday evening and help run the activities and games that are on the troop programme, and come on a few camps a year if you can do. People often say it’s only 2 hours a week, well its a little more than that, but not much more thanks to modern technology simplifying all of the paperwork.
Assistant Cub Leader (ACSL) – Thanks to unforseen uncircumstances we are an ACSL down, the Cub Section (8 – 10.5 years) needs another to continue to go from strength to strength. Cubs runs on a tuesday evening, like scouts they have a few camps a year and have a varied and exciting programme.
If you would like to get involved, even just occasionally then contact Scouts@polesworthscoutgroup.co.uk for more information.
